Plain cake recipe

Ingredients;

2 room-temperature sticks of unsalted butter, plus additional butter for the pans

3 cups of all-purpose flour + additional flour for the pans

1 teaspoon of baking soda

0.5 teaspoons of salt

3/4 cups of sugar

4 eggs, four big, at room temperature

1/4 cup vanilla extract

3/4 cup heavy cream combined with 1/2 cup water, or 1 1/4 cups whole milk

Directions;

Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter two 9-inch round cake pans, then line the bottoms with parchment paper. Sprinkle the pans with flour, tapping out any excess and then butter the parchment.

In a bowl, stir together 3 cups flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, combine 2 sticks of butter with sugar and beat with a mixer on medium-high speed for 3 minutes, or until frothy. Eggs should be added one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the bowl as necessary. the vanilla afterward. (At this point, the mixing could appear disjointed.) Till just smooth, add the flour mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk and starting and finishing with flour.

The batter should be divided among the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cakes comes out clean. The cakes should be transferred to racks and allowed to cool for ten minutes before being turned out onto the racks to finish cooling. Take the parchment off. If necessary, use a long serrated knife to trim the cakes' tops to level them.
